UNVEX S&D held its fifth edition, the first dedicated exclusively to Security and Defense, in the city of León. This edition has also served as the opening of the new Exhibition Palace of León.

During these three days, UNVEX S&D became the meeting point of the RPAS community, at an international level, managing to bring together decision makers, public institutions, users, industry, universities and research centers. A large number of professionals went to the event to hear first-hand experts from the sector, national and international.

The inauguration was given by the Secretary of State for Defense, Mr. Agustín Conde Bajén, and on the second day the Director General of Armament and Material, Admiral Santiago Ramón González Gómez, opened the day.
UNVEX had great support from local institutions, with the assistance of the mayor of the city, Mr. Antonio Silván, and with the Minister of Development of the Castilla y León government, Mr. Juan Carlos Suárez-Quiñones y Fernández.

Besides conferences, UNVEX exhibited 16 remotely manned systems, including the first Spanish UGV, at two military bases in León. The “Virgen del Camino” air base included a panel of Reaper users and demonstrations of seven RPAS of all sizes,
and at the “Conde de Gazola” military base it was possible to enjoy the flight of some larger RPAS, after a previous panel about the DGAM Programs carried out in its facilities.
Finally, on the last day there was a simulation of the Spanish Emergency Military Unit in the V Battalion’s facilities and the conferences focused on the applications in the field of security and emergencies.
The Exhibition, composed of fifty-six companies, remained open to professionals during the three days.
In the evenings, as well as the demonstrations, lectures were held on technology, entrepreneurship and R+D+i, with a very complete program developed from the hands of the Spanish chapter of AUVSI.
